Privacy Policy

In Short…

We won’t ever sell your personally identifiable information. To learn more, read on.

Overview

Your privacy and trust are very important here, and we recognize that you may want to know about the collection, use, and disclosure of information that we collect when you access the site. This Privacy Policy describes the information danielgardina.com (“we” or “the site”) collects from you (“the guest”), how we collect it, and what we do with it afterward.

What Information Do We Collect?

We collect information from you when you subscribe to our newsletter, RSS feeds, or fill out a form—including, but not limited to, comment forms, surveys, subscription forms, and contact forms. As appropriate, you may be asked to enter your name, email address, physical address, or website address. You may, however, visit our site anonymously.

When guests leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form and also the guest’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

How Do We Use Your Information?

Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one or more of the following ways:

  • To personalize your experience.

  • To improve our site.

  • To improve customer service.

  • To administer a contest, promotion, survey, or other site feature.

  • To send periodic emails to newsletter and RSS subscribers.

  • To send responses to direct communications and guest requests.

We will use the email address information you provide to be in touch with you and to provide updates and marketing via email. You can change your mind at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the footer of any email you receive from us or by contacting us with the necessary information to process your request. By subscribing to our newsletter or RSS feed, you agree that we may process your information in accordance with these terms.

Please note that newsletters and RSS updates may be sent from different service providers, so two separate changes must be made if you subscribe to both.

How Do We Protect Your Information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you enter, submit, or access your data.

Do We Use Cookies?

Yes. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser, if you allow them, that enables the site or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser. We use cookies to log anonymous traffic information on this site.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, physical address, and/or website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for two years.

Aggregated Statistics

Like most website administrators, we record information such as types of browsers used, referral pages, search engine referral terms, platform type, date/time stamps, and pages visited. We gather this information to track guest behavior in the aggregate to learn how guests use our site.

We may collect and disclose non-personal statistics about visitor behavior on our site—including, but not limited to, pages visited, files requested, internal and external links clicked, geographic locations, and types of browsers used. However, we do not disclose personally identifiable information other than described below.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the guest had visited the other website. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies and terms of use.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Do We Disclose Any Information to Outside Parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe such action is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our Terms of Use, or protect our or others’ rights, property, or safety.

How Long Do We Retain Your Data?

If you leave a comment or subscribe to the newsletter, the comment, its metadata, and/or email address are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments or send email messages automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For guests that register on our website, if any, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All guests can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except they cannot change their username. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What Rights Do You Have over Your Data?

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided by contacting us with the necessary information to process your request. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Tell a Friend

If you elect to use our referral service for informing a friend about our site, we may ask you for your friend’s name and/or email address. We will automatically send your friend a one-time email inviting them to visit our site based on the information you provide.

California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

Because we value your privacy, we have taken the necessary precautions to be in compliance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act (OPPA). We therefore will not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent, except as required by law.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

Our website, products, and services are all directed to people who are at least thirteen years or older. No information should be submitted to this site by guests under thirteen years of age in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Where appropriate, we may ask you to indicate your age to verify adherence to these policies. We do not knowingly collect information from guests under thirteen years of age and will delete any information in our database that we discover originates from a child under 13. Moreover, we do not allow guests known to be under thirteen years of age to receive marketing communications from the site or from third parties over which we have control.

If you are a minor (i.e., under eighteen years of age), please secure the permission and guidance of your parent or guardian who agrees to be bound by the Terms of Use before using this site.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may change this Privacy Policy at any time and at our discretion without notice to any party. We will post those changes on this page (danielgardina.com/privacy). This Policy was last revised on October 24, 2020.
