Ira Glass on Storytelling

"Nobody tells people who are beginners..."

Journalist and This American Life host Ira Glass is one of the few voices that I regularly seek out because he is an excellent storyteller. So when I came across this animated video based on an interview he’d given, I knew I had to watch.

I’d never heard Ira’s explanation that creative folk start on their path because they have good taste. However, as we soon discover, there is a gap between having good taste and becoming capable of producing work on that level.

He speaks to what I’ve been saying about writing all along: it’s all about the process.
